Worldschool Hub Bornholm – Spring 2026 Edition

Worldschool Hub Bornholm – Spring 2026 Edition

Are you longing for community? Spending some time together with other homeschooling families, with fun activities being offered but also plenty of time to play and live your everyday life?

We’re very excited to announce that we’ll be hosting another worldschool hub on our beloved sunshine island: Bornholm. The Danish island of Bornholm is known for its stunning nature and home to many homeschooling families.

Once again, we’ll be staying at Bornholms Familiecamping – our favourite campsite, nestled in the woods by the sea, with direct access to one of Europe’s most beautiful beaches: Dueodde Beach.

The Worldschool Hub Bornholm – Spring 2026 Edition will take place from 16 May to 13 June, with options for a two-week stay or a four-week stay.

We’ll be keeping the group small – about 10 to 12 families – big enough for plenty of playmates, yet small enough for everyone to get to know each other.

Practical information

Where? Bornholms Familiecamping, Dueodde Beach, Bornholm, Denmark
When? 16 May to 13 June, 2026
For who? Homeschooling families

(homeschooling, unschooling, worldschooling, etc.) with children of all ages
What are the costs? The exact costs are not known yet. We aim to keep them around the same level as the 2025 edition and expect to announce them around the end of the year.
Hosted by: Week 1 + 2 are hosted by Susanne and Mirjam. Week 3 + 4 are hosted by Mirjam and Rob

We keep the schedule light, with planned activities on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. That way, there’s lots of time on the other days to relax at the campsite and beach, explore the area, or enjoy spontaneous play, which is often the most valuable part of a hub. The campsite, located right by the beach and dunes, offers a natural playground for endless fun.

Most activities take place on or around the campsite and include:
– potluck meals
– creative workshops
– cooking workshops
– sharing circles
On top of that, we’ll organise several excursions to explore the island’s unique and diverse landscapes.

We keep things simple and relaxed, and there’s always something fun or meaningful to join if you’re up for it.

You can bring your own camping gear (camper, caravan, tent) and book a pitch, or rent one of the accommodation options available at the campsite.

What are the costs?

The exact costs are not known yet. We aim to keep them around the same level as the 2025 edition and expect to announce the prices around the end of the year, once we know the costs for the campsite’s next season.

For reference, these were the 2025 prices:
four-week stay: €1250 including campsite pitch (electricity optional)
two-week stay: €375 excluding campsite pitch/accommodation

This fee covers all activities offered by us at the campsite. You can find the 2025 accommodation and pitches prices on the campsite’s website.

Good to know

There is room for about 10 to 12 families with children of all ages: from little kids to tweens and teens.

Our worldschool hubs are visited by families from many different countries, therefore the main language will be English, so it will be easier to blend in for older children if your family speaks some English.

FAQ

How about the weather?
The Danes call Bornholm solskinsøen (“sunshine island”) for a reason, as it has, on average, the most sunshine hours in Denmark. Spring usually brings plenty of sunshine, with often little wind, making it very comfortable, even though temperatures typically range between 12°C and 22°C.
How to get to Bornholm?
There are different options to get to Bornholm.

If you’re travelling with your own vehicle (camper, caravan, or car), you can take a ferry from:

  • Sassnitz (Germany – 3.5 hours)
  • Ystad (Sweden – 1.5 hours)
  • Køge (Denmark – 5.5 hours)

All ferries are operated by Bornholmslinjen.

If you’re flying, you can book a flight to either Copenhagen or Rønne. Kombardoexpressen offers combined bus and ferry tickets from Copenhagen Airport to Rønne. The campsite is 30 km from Rønne. There’s a bus stop for route 6 about 2.5 km from the campsite.

See below for some useful links for transport on Bornholm:

  • Europcar (car rental at both Rønne Airport and Rønne Harbour)
  • AVIS (car rental at Rønne Harbour)
  • BAT (Bornholm’s bus company)
  • Dantaxi (taxi company)

The campsite also offers bike rentals.

What happens if we need to cancel?
If you cancel at least 1 month before the hub starts, you will receive a refund of 50% of your contribution fee. No refund will be given if you cancel within 1 month of the start.

The campsite doesn’t offer refunds for cancellations, but they will allow you to use the amount for a future reservation.

Are there accommodations available?
The campsite offers a limited number of apartments, caravans and tents. Please note that reservations for 2026 are not possible yet.
What languages are spoken?
The main language spoken is English, so it will be easier to blend in for older children if your family speaks some English.
Are activities obligated?
No, all activities are optional, so don’t feel obligated to visit every activity. We know how valuable it is to have a good balance between community time and personal time.
Can my child join activities by itself?
Although our hubs are family-oriented and not drop-off hubs, sometimes a child prefers to join certain activities on their own. If your child is responsible enough to participate without a parent and transport to the activity or excursion can be arranged, it’s absolutely fine with us. However, parents remain fully responsible for their child at all times.
Can I join communal meals with allergies/diets?
Yes, definitely. Everyone is asked to include a note with the ingredients at organised potluck meals. In our experience, there’s always a good selection of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
Is there a good internet connection?
The campsite offers wifi, which is only available at a covered terrace. If you need good internet, we recommend buying a Danish simcard from Lebara. They offer big data packages at a bargain, e.g. 200 GB data for appr. 22 euro per month. You can use that simcard in a router, or turn your smartphone into a hotspot. Let us know if you need help with that.
What's the price of the accommodations?
You can find the 2025 prices on their website under the rentals section. These prices are appr. 375 to 630 euro per week, including electricity and gas. You will receive instructions on how to book an accommodation with the confirmation of your registration. We can help you if needed. Please note that the prices for 2026 are not known yet and that booking is not possible yet.

For reference only: the 2025 prices were in a range of 375 – 630 euro per week, including electricity and gas. An optional final cleaning, towels and bed linen are not included in the price.

What's the price of the pitches?
The price depends on several factors, such as family size and age. You can find the 2025 prices on their website. You will receive instructions on how to book a pitch (if not included in the hub price) with the confirmation of your registration. We can help you if needed. Please note that the prices for 2026 are not known yet and that booking is not possible yet.

For reference only: a family of 4, with 1 teen aged 12+ and 1 child 2-11 years old would pay appr. 565 euro for two weeks. This price excludes electricity (6.70 euro per night) and hot showers (0.67 euro per 3 minutes).

Pre-register now 🙂

Do you want to have the best chance of securing a spot for the 2026 Spring Edition? Then pre-register now and receive an exclusive 5% discount on the participation fee once we announce the prices and open registration.

Pre-registering is simple: just fill out the form below, and we will confirm your pre-registration.

There are a few conditions. They’re probably quite logical, but we like to be clear about them:

  • Pre-registration is not binding.
  • We will invite you to confirm your registration as soon as we are able to publish the 2026 prices.
  • Once we invite you to confirm your final registration, you’ll have 3 days to respond and 10 days to pay the participation fee (which sometimes includes the campsite fee).
  • In case more families pre-register than there are places available: first come, first served. We do look after a good balance of ages though.
  • The 5% discount only applies to the participation fee for the hub, not to the cost of a campsite pitch or accommodation, and is only valid if you confirm and pay within the mentioned timeframe.
